All apps currently run on macOS 13 through macOS 27
Currently, all programs run on macOS 13 through macOS 27. This applies to both older Macs with Intel X86 CPUs and newer Macs with Apple M CPUs (ARM64).
Up through macOS 27, programs created for the Intel X86 platform also run on the new computers with Apple M-CPUs. To do this, the operating system uses a bridge called “Rosetta,” which translates the old X86 instructions for the new M-CPU. That’s why our programs are so-called “Universal Binaries,” which contain both versions for X86 and M-CPU. Starting with macOS 28, “Rosetta” will no longer be available. This means that legacy programs from the Intel x86 platform will no longer run. From that point on, only programs created for the Apple M-CPU will run. Since we have already developed all our programs for both Intel x86 and the M-CPU, all of our programs will be available for macOS 28 once it is released.
Apple App Store
We currently have no information on how the App Store will be structured after the release of macOS 28. Only Apple itself knows whether only programs for the M-CPU platform will be available or whether programs for both the old and new platforms will be supported. As soon as information becomes available, it will be published here.
